Christian Education:

Sunday mornings we offer two Christian Education classes for grades 7-9 & 10-12. This is a time when we gather together to take a closer look at passages from the Holy Bible and seek out ways that we can apply it to our lives, gain a deeper understanding of who our God is, and discover what it truly means to be a follower of Christ. Maureen Scoggin teaches the 7-9th grade class and our Youth Pastor teaches the 10-12th grade class. We use WordAction's Faith Connection curriculum as a guideline for these studies. To see the curriculum topics for the next few months click here. For more information on our curriculum please visit their website by clicking the hyperlink or by asking our Youth Pastor, Chris Desgroseillier.

Sunday Night Live (SNL) Discipleship:

What's Your Pulse?

Sunday evenings we offer students from grades 7-12 an opportunity to participate in group discipleship. This is a time when we introduce and discuss our weekly devotional material. The material we use is a monthly devotional magazine called YouthWalk. The magazine offers weekly devotionals that serve to encourage Bible reading, make sense of the Bible reading, and explain what it means to be a child of God and follower of Jesus. Group discussion and participation are vital parts of these evenings; they encourage unity within the group, accountability for the individuals life, and a challenge of wholistic devotion to God. This is also a time when the Youth Pastor pours out his wisdom, care, and life teachings to the students.

Breakfast and Prayer

During the school year on Monday mornings before school we offer students the opportunity to participate in "The Breakfast Club." This is a time when students gather together to eat, fellowship, voice their needs through prayer requests, and pray for each other. This morning activity establishes multiple goals of our ministry: 1) It encourages active participation in the body of Christ which allows students the opportunity to lean on and support each other with the love of Christ; 2) It encourages total dependance on God. Usually we only look to God for strength when we have exhausted our own or when we don't have any other choice. This morning activity leads students to start the week off right by leaning on and depending on God's strength; 3) It gives perspecitive and challenge to how the students are going to live out the rest of the week. Are they going to live the week with a focus solely on themselves and their needs, or are they going to live with the knowlege of God's presence and mission in this world? The choice is offered every week.

Youth Group

Wednesday evenings we offer youth the invitation to hang out with friends, play games, and join us as we worship our God in a real and lively youth oriented way. Students are welcome to start arriving at 6:30pm to hang out and have fun in the youth wing located in the basement of the church. Our desire is to provide youth with an area that would taylor to their need and desire to have fun and socialize in a God honoring and safe way. In our youth wing you will find a vending maching, couches, music videos, old school game systems, ping-pong, 2 fooseball tables, 2 air hockey tables, and a pool table. We have just recently added a "chill room" that features a cheesy but cool electric fire place. We truly desire to provide our community with a safe and fun alternative for our kids. Continuing with the evenings activities, at about 7:00 we may have a group game planned in the fellowship hall. These games help the students to break the ice and enhance unity within the group. Occasionally they will even carry an object lesson. At about 7:15 the students all find their seats to get ready for some lively worship led by our own band, The Salt-Teens. Immediately following, our Youth Pastor, Chris Desgroseillier, delivers a relevant and challenging message for youth from the Bible. Our desire is to present students with opportunities for a real, intimate, and ongoing relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our evening's activities officially close at 8:30pm, however, students are welcome to hang out in our teen area until 9:00pm.

Youth Services

Youth Services typically happen one Sunday a month. Usually they occur toward the end of the month in place of the evening service at 6:00pm. These services are very youth oriented.  In fact they are primarily led by youth. Our youth worship band, The Salt-Teens, usher us into God's presence through some very lively contemporary worship music; however they have been known to play something a little more traditional from time to time. The youth do practically everything that an adult would do on a Sunday morning service. And for the message, our Youth Pastor, Chris Desgroseillier, takes every effort to make God's word come alive to encourage and challenge everyone's heart. Please don't think that this service is for youth because it is led by youth. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome and wanted here. Family, friends, acquaintances, strangers, visitors and any other kind of people are invited to attend these services. Nothing pleases us more to see people attend these nights. Your attendance firmly shows your support for the youth and the youth ministry.

The Man Meeting

On Thursdays at 3:30pm a small group of male teenagers meet with the Youth Pastor for a covenential small accountability group. The focus of the group is to spur one another on toward holiness of heart and life. We look at this world and see that sin is rampant in the youth of today. Sin has become predatory. It used to be that you had to go looking for it, but now it comes to your doorstep through media and the cultural norms of contemporary society. In this group, personal accountability, wisdom, and encouragement is offered to help young men to abstain from a life of impurity and sin. If you have any questions at all please contact Pastor Chris by email or phone. He would be glad to talk.

The 5th Quarter: Coming Soon!

The Fifth Quarter

In the near future of the 07-08 school year we wil be kicking off our 5th Quarter activities. After specific Friday night home-games we will be opening up our teen facility and coffee house to the Pomeroy Jr/Sr High School student body. As you read above in the "Youth Group" description you will find that our facility offers a wide variety of activities for students to be involved in. Our desire is to provide parents with the relief of knowing that their kids are in a safe place, and to give students a fun, safe atmosphere to just hang out in. And of course parents are more than welcome to come; however, we do ask that any adults check in with our staff for safety purposes.
